Thumbs up Withdrawals

I am having some major withdrawals from GW. I know, I'm kinda strange . But basically almost half of my time is spent doing what I like best...gaming. The other half is spent working, you know, to pay for my gaming addiction. I usually get bored easily with offline games and have been known to buy two, sometimes three, a month. Online games, on the other hand, hold my attention quite well.

I started the online genre with EQ. I was sucked into that for about 3 years. Then I tried UO, Shadowbane and DAOC. DAOC kept me entertained for about a year and a half while I waited impatiently for EQ2. I love EQ2.....but, I need more variety so I don't get bored with my favorite game. I overplay it to death....enter Guild Wars . This is definitely going to be the game to save me from EQ2 overuse.

So, I will happily divide my time between the two. I have to admit that the only reason why I gave GW a second glance was because the 'no monthly fee' concept for an online game was a dream come true. Sony will never do anything of the sort, which is a shame. darn money grubbin'...

Anyhow, just thought I'd share my gaming life with ya'll. Some say it's sad, others say it's a waste of time. It makes me happy though, so for those that don't waste their time doing fun things...I'm sad for you.

Back to work I go. *Prays for April 27th 12:00 a.m. to come quickly*.

Take care all. Thanks for reading and feel free to share if we are of like minds.

Don't feel bad, I played EQ for 5 years then went to DAOC for another 5 or so years, I tried EQII but frankly I think it totally sucks.. and yes I played it for a good 4 months. Then... one day I read this post about GuildWars. I thought, hmmm ... why not give it a shot? Free beta weekend events? Heck ya where do I sign up. Simply I was floored, the game play is just what I had been looking for that no other game (that I know) can currently compare. .. Except for Fung Wan Online, which I beta tested for awhile, but the macro cheaters drove me insane so I quit. And GuildWars is much more 'pretty' and has better potential for longevity of play. I simply freak out every day that I dont get to login..... so ...... how about turn on them servers for a few hours and well.. help a brutha out eh? LOL

Anyway... your not alone... im riding in that same boat.

Trust me you aren't the only one Jonesing.

Some of us have even admitted being sad when the BWEs end.

In my humble opinion the realism of the surrealism without the limits of physics yet meeting the demands of that "science" just appeals to our senses like nothing else. There is also the missing competitive elements of item grabbing, pk anywhere, limited areas you can go becauase you then end up in PK (those areas being a large part of the map too), etc. those give us more energy to enjoy the game because we aren't all stressed on the hair trigger of attack for maybe being jumped at any moment. We end up enjoying the scenery, depth of detail, the entirey of surrounding. Yea it sweeps you right up and our immersion into the game is complete.

Little known fact....

The GW BWEs where part of massive Govt. run experment to see how well the general population runs with little or no sleep. As you were playing they were watching you with secret long range sats and telescopes. LOL

OK the mad man is gone It is all right.

But really You are definaty not alone. I for one can't wait till the 27. Now I look at all my other games and think why would I want to play this when I can talk about GW in the forum.

I'm totally with you guys on this one.

I've had a problem with game "addiction" in the past ... my wife and I played EQ for almost 4 years, continuing to play long after it was boring and funless for us both. After we finally quit we pretty much swore we'd never play another online game ... we were tired of the grinding, the stuff-quest, and the endless striving to keep up with the hardcore players. For over a year we tried to fill the void with other RPGs, including endless repeats of D2.

Then we heard about GW, and we realized that we could play an online game again without having to worry about all that stuff.

The March BWE was our first, and I was instantly "hooked" ... I couldn't wait for April 15. April BWE came and went, and now I'm ticking off the days on my calendar until the 27th. Every day I leave work and wish I could go home and play GW LOL ... I'm going on vacation for the first two weeks of May, and I'm looking forward to coming back home (and GW) as much as I am to the vacation itself!

Now that's sad. But hey, just six days now and it will all be OK.

i feel you. My friends and I started a guild and we are just waiting. We have all picked out our character classes and are ready to play. We have paired up for the first 3 towns, and have a team of 4 ready for the towns after that. We also have a group of 8 for some guild battling. Everyone is ready to roll... But alas.... 6 more days...

Yay! I'm not the only odd creature walking the earth . But....I betcha I'm an oddball when it comes to this:

I am single and will stay that way. Why? I actually prefer to play whenever I want, with all the peace and quiet I can get. I used to always have to share my time with this bf or that fiance and none of them were gamers, so they didn't understand my infatuation with something other than them LMAO.

Well, there's another reason I prefer to be alone, but that is a very long and depressing story. And...since my notes are long enough as it is, I won't be boring ya'll with that . At some point I'm going to be making my own ranting website, and if anyone is interested I'll post the address.

Anyways, it's great to have this awesome game to look forward to. I think I may have had a dream about it last night..... Oh the joy of having such an easy, laid-back life. uh oh, boss is coming!

I used to play FPS and still do, but the main problem that I always had was no interaction. It was great to get out work and kill random people but It got plain. The thing That I love about GW is the Community it is what made mw want to start a guild (That and the cool cape ) This way I can meet up with the same cool people to play the mission or go hunting. so how many ESTers are going to stay up till 3am to play on the 27th. I do not have to wirk on the 27 so I am all set.

Yeh. My friend and I are going to do everything possible in Pre-Searing, just for the heck of it. Yesterday I was walking in the hallway and I turned around to see if Gwen was keeping up. Hahaha I was thinking about fire storming the bandits and all.

Ive been to Lions Arc but i cant wait to go back to Pre-Searing.
